Our Mission
Sydney Queer Irish exists:
-
to support those who identify as LGBTQI within and connected to the Irish and Irish Australian community in Sydney and NSW; and
-
to be a role model for acceptance of LGBTQI people from other cultures and nationalities in Australia and around the world.
Our Vision
• We will create visibility and provide a voice for the queer Irish communityin Sydney and Australia- SQI will benefit both Irish-born LGBTQI people and those of Irish-descent, in Australia, by being a more visible group within the greater Sydney Irish and LGBTQI communities and help give a voice to those who identify as LBTQI within and connected to the Irish and Irish Australian community.
• We will be role models of multicultural acceptance and settlement support- We will network and collaborate with other LGBTQI groups across Australia to promote, role model and build acceptance and support for LGBTQI people from all cultures and backgrounds
• We will provide a platform for expression and coming together to communicate who we are and what we stand for- We will hold monthly and larger quarterly events for SQI community to meet and network, and also raise funds to participate in both the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade and St Patricks’ Day parade in Sydney, and other events that support our objectives, as appropriate.
